Tang Safety

I went bird hunting on Sat. And I bought this BPS mossy oakin the spring for turkey. I havn't hunted with a pump in 4 years, and have never had a tang safety besides a old mossberg from years ago. It really messed me up on a few birds. If I got used to it, I bet it would be the cats meow. My saftet on my golds are very heavy, but this switches off quick. I think I can get used to it.

BPS has a nice safety but you'll have to use it and not any other shotguns or you'll throw things off. My biggest peave at current shotguns is the safety, it's location and how small they can be. Best designed of the safeties out there is the Gold/Silver . The Beretta/Benelli is a joke. Browning has a nice large safety button you can click off. I like shotguns much more then rifles and have way more experience with them and I can nitpick one to death if you like.

I have 3 golds, and the only thing I can complain about is, its distinct metal click. If one just pushes it, it will alert a deer if you have a slug gun. You have to use two fingers

Tang safetys are but 1 of many reasons I reccomend browning bps and a-bolt.

You know stalking, I can really see the advantage. Especially upland. It will take some getting used too.

Neil, hope you havea great Christmas.

My Citori is my favorite shotgun, but I carry it broken when hunting upland birds so the sfafety never gets used.I won't have a tang safety on a rifle.

You and my brother would get along great. He is a double barrel nut. Just too high brow for me. I am just a simple man. But I would love to dove hunt with a 20ga over under. Or pheasant hunt with a 16ga over/under.

I really like the tang safety on the BPS, it also makes the gun completely ambidextrous.

I personally love how I can be in what I call the "ready" position and click the safety off my Remington 870 with basically no movement. But then again I'm an 870 fanboy.

I know you basically were asking about shotgun tang safetys bc, but I wanted to add my .02c worth too. I hunted for many years with M77 long tang, and absolutely found it to be the most natural thing in the world. As you mount the gun, it just felt natural to slide the thumb foreward and slip off the safe. I have always liked it. I have to be reminding myself of the safe location with other guns. Just how I've felt about it......

I grew up with pumps and semi autos for hunting, and started using an over and under for skeet. Now I use the same citori for everything.

Actually stubble, I am looking at a citori lightning. Just the plain jane blued model. Well see.

I am shooting the citori skeet.I prefer the higher rib,and the point of impact it produces.

Is that just your personal likings? I see so many models. And I have always had trouble cheeking shotguns. So I tend to hit high. I know that has to do with my comb. I would really like to have adjustable comb and LOP.
