I recently purchased a REM 700 .270 CDL with Walnut Satin Finish. Is the factory rem oil good and what is good for the stock?

Congrats on your purchase. Fine rifle. As for maintenance products, there are a lot of them on the market. For bore cleaning I like Butch's Bore Shine. RemOil is fine for exterior metal protection, and to coat the bore lightly for lenghthy periods of storage. As far as stock protection, I like a good grade of automotive paste wax. Just keep it out of the checkering. Have fun!!

not sure fo your new but i bought a ar a few yearsago and somene had got gun oil on the stock and stained it i had to rub oil all over it to blend the color

I use a light amount of rem oil on my stocks, you should be fine....

As Pawildman says, a good coat of a paste wax willprotect the stock. Something like Johnson's for hardwood floors works well. As for protection of metal, use Birchwood Casey SHEATH. It will totally prevnt rust, doesn't have to be swabbed out of the bore/.chamber before shooting, and will NOT rot/damage wood, as will some machine oils that can soak into the wood and weaken it.

i would also think for wood any hardwood oil would do it is just wood not like it is a special wood
