870 sticking

I recently bought a new 12 gauge synthetic 870 shotgun. First shot on quail covey rise, I could not eject the shell. Action bar lock was stuck. With two hand effort, I ejected the shell and then ejected all other shells. Shot and ejected several shells with no problems. Next day ,oiled it and shot 25 times at skeet with about 5 or 6 jams. Anyone have any ideas on the problem. Sportsman's Warehouse said they would send it back to Remington, but I need it for South Dakota next week. The gun is fun to shot, but I need to fix the jamming problem. Maybe it needs to be broken down and cleaned real well.

I'd take it completly down and clean it real good. I don't know what everyone else does but every firearm I've purchased new or used, thats the first thing that happens.

I would disassemble entirely and give it a thorough cleaning. I assume you have the manual for disassembly and reassembly. The first thing I would do is remove the trigger mechanism. Just tap out the 2 pins and pull it out. This assembly is a casting if it is an express and you may have a burr on your action release. If that's the case you will have to send it back. I wouldn't recommend disassembly ofthe trigger mechanism unless you are a compentent gunsmith. But if you don't see anything out of the ordinary, flush the trigger assembly liberly with gun degreaser or carburater cleaner, blow it out with compresed air if you have access to any and give a light coat of gun oil. Do the same for the interior of the receiver.

You probably have a burr somewhere..take it to a gunsmith and have them look at it. SHould be covered under Remington warranty but it may take them a few weeks to get it back to you. Give it a good cleaning after breaking it down and oil it properly.

Go to Remingtons web siteand find the nearest authorized repair center to you. I would call them up, tell them your situtation and see what theyll do for ya. If not find a phone # for Remington directly and give them a good reaming!

If it's a brand new gun, take it back where you bought it, and get one that works.

Drop the 2 pins out of your trigger asembly and see if you have a burr on your action bar lock
