the 35 Rem is a solid deer round when shot from a Marlin lever action, similar too but better than a 30-30.
i've heard that its an excellent pistol round for deer but have no 1st hand knowledge. IMO 200 yds is way too far for a 35Rem in a T/C Encore.

You might want to consider the 7MM/08 for a T/C, its got everything the .308 has with flatter trajectory and less recoil to boot!

My first rifle was a Model 336 Marlin in 35 REM. I hunted with it for a few years and killed several deer. However, I would not recommend this cartridge to anyone. Some people swear by them, but I never liked the cartridge and thought that throwing rocks would be more efficient. There is a lotbetter choices to choose from and I would suggest only to buy the 35 REM as a very lastresort. Its only my opinion. I would check into the 7mm 08 REM. It is a very efficient cartridge.

I really like the 35 Rem. I have a Marlin 336CS. I shot a deer with it, it worked GREAT. I limit myself to 100 to 125 yards with it. It alsohas a 20 inch barrel. If I was going to get a Encore handgun for deer hunting I'd go with a 7mm-08, 270, 280, 308 or 30-06. Just my $0.02. [/align]

I like my .35 Remington it is like a little heavier 30/30. I've shot deer out to 160 yards with it though it is better around 100 - 125 yards. I've never had a problem with it and the farthest any has run was about 50 yards after being lung shot.
