Thanks Trailer ...anyone have an idea as to the value ...and can someone explain to me "Long tang and short tang" I am looking for a composite stock and have seen that Sako made both..and keep it clean please :D I have seen Sakos from that time frame run anywhere from 750 to 1100 dollars depending on condition and grade. Sako never made a composite stock for them it was manufactured by Mcmillan. I would contact Mcmillan and give them the model number and serial number and they can probably make one for you. |

I don't know what year yours is Doc, but I have a 1972 Sako Finnbear in 30-06 and itis an awesome gun. Nice heavy barrel, great fit/finish and a an action so smooth it's like silk over glass. The rifle has a Leupold Vari X-11 on it and it's never moved off zero in 35 years (unless I changed it for use of different bullets/weights).

+1 on the McMillan. Just put one on my Sako 75. It's a keeper.
