RE: Protection from unpleasant animals
If you are going to use a handgun for defense against a POed bear don't forget to save one round to shoot yourself in the head with before he eats you alive;).
From what I hear if the bear really wants you dead your head will on the ground before you can draw the pistol anyway. Sitting in a tree or blind and hunting one is completely different than getting charged by one the ground. I also believe most bears want nothing to do with you anyway. Probably the only time you would have to worry is if they had cubs and were protecting them. Best way not to be eaten by a bear, stay out of the bears back yard;). I will add that I don't hunt bear, so my opinion means very little.[:o] My opinion anyway. |
RE: Protection from unpleasant animals
I agree with most of the other posters. don't think of these fellow predators as unpleasant, rather that they are there just doing what they do. Humans make terrible prey, and as long as we aren't bothering other predators or endangering them or their young, they will recognize that and leave us be. Also, the likelihood of having the time to put aside a hunting rifle, unholster a revolver, aim and shoot is slim. the idea of being able to quickly point and shoot your rifle for protection is the more likely scenario.
