CVA Optima Elite Question

Hello, I'm gettnig back into hunting after a four year hiatus (babies :D)

I'm looking at getting the CVA Optima Elite .50/.270 combo in RT/SS for whitetail and wild hog. Does anyone have experience with one and if so, would it be worth dropping about $700 for it and a Nikon Buckmaster scope?

thanks.

Soli Deo Gloria!

RE: CVA Optima Elite Question

Well, since either no one has any experience with an Optima Elite combo, or nobody gives a rip, I'll try another question.

I have a friend who has a .308 that he is willing to sell for pretty cheap. Now, I like the .308, but this rifle is a pump. I understand that bolt action rifles are supposed to be the most accurate. Since I will more than likely never be shooting past the 200 yd mark with most shots coming under 100, will the difference in accuracy between a pump and bolt make a hugh difference?

Also, what makes the bolt more accurate?

Thanks

What kind of pump gun? Ive got a remington 760 in 308,, its a very accurate rifle out too 300 yards on deer sized game. Those remington pumps are alot more accurate than alot of people give them credit for!

RE: CVA Optima Elite Question

Thank you for your reply, Swampy.

It is a Remington and he believes it is a 760. But now he's not sure he wants to sell it. :(

Guess I'll hold out for the Optima Elite.

RE: CVA Optima Elite Question

I have the CVA Optima elite combo in .50/.308black fleck thumbhole stock in stainless. I love the gun. The Bargerra barrels are really nice if you ask my opinion. I have a Nikon Buckmaster 3x9x40 on the muzzleloader and a 4.5x14x40 BDC on the .308. For the money (basically 2 guns for $650-700) I believe that you will be extremely satisfied. I know that I am.

Just for a reference, I put down my Winchester Model 70 Super black shadow 7mm wsm to shoot the .308 because I just enjoy shooting that setup that much.
