7mm08
I have really taken a liking to what I've seen on the balistics of this round. I'm wanting something with a lot less recoil than the cannon I shoot now (.300RUM) and a little bigger than my 6mm. Both of these rounds are jewels to me and I wouldn't trade them for the world so I'mhoping that the 7mm08 will be the icing the cake. I need the rifle between the two I have.
Is this a good round? It sure looks good on the ballistic charts. Hows the recoil? |

The 7/08 is a great deer cartridge.I have one chambered in a Browning A-Bolt and it absolutely smacks them down in the tracks.Recoil is very mild,it's a short-action(big plus for me),very accurate,and it's just put's 'em down quick!

Great caliber based off the 308, just necked down to a 28 caliber. So it is more than enough for deer. With bullets ranging from 120 to 150 grains it can even handle a trip out west should one ever pop up..

A 7mm-08 and a 270 are about as close as 2 peas in a pod. Except the 08 is in a short action and 270 long action rifle. They are pretty much a toss up other than that. my 2 cents

Yep 270 and 7-08 may as well be twins. I get less recoil and a little less meat damage with the 08. Love it!

the .270 was the first rifle I bought myself when I turned 18. I did not like it. i had too many bad experiences with it. to many deer being wounded and not dropping. it cant be blamed on shot placement because they were all shoulder shots. i was beginning to believe that mule deer were made of steel.
if the 7/08 is the twin to that I will stay away from it and get the .308 |

The 7mm08 is a GREAT whitetail round. Bang, flop. Accurate, fast, straight shooting, light recoiling, and powerful. 140 grain pills for any deer. I absolutely love mine. I shot a .308 for years and recently switched to the 7mm08, IMO, it outperforms the .308 in all areas. Do NOT hesitate to get one.

DK, it's an excellent choice for deer. It is also an excellent choice for youngsters and ladies or men with shoulder problems. I have only owned one in my life time because I like them all!:D

DK...Personally, I never shoot deer in the shoulder, regardless of what others claim. If ican get it, I'll shoot for the neck if the shot is within 100 yds. and the deer is not moving. Otherwise, I'll shoot it behind the shoulder in the boiler room. Have never lost a deer shot that way. And, by the way I simply love my 7-08.
