remington 870 ??
I have a remington 870 express and it has a regular slug vented barrel. I was wondering what barrel would be the best for deer and shooting sabots. A fully rifled barrel or what? I want to shoot somehigher qualityslugs than what I have been shooting. Thanks.

RE: remington 870 ??
If you want the best performance from a slug gun then get a rifled cantilever barrel. Then get a good scope that is designed for the recoil of a shotgun shooting slugs. The scope will cost you as much as the gun and barrel but you should have a gun capable of hitting a deer at 150yds. Now you will have to spend lots of time finding the right slugs for your gun as all barrels shot different. You will also have to practice shooting at the range to be confindent of taking a deer at long range. Good luck.

Fully rifled, with scope mount (cantilever). Should give you the most range and accuracy with your slugs.

Get yourself a Remington 23" factory rifled slug barrel with cantilever scope mount, put on a Nikon Prostaff 2-7x 32mm shotgun scope, and you will have a real nice/ accurate deer setup. I shot this doe right through the heart at110 yards with mine. See photo.

Good recommendations here. I would suggest the Lightfield slugs. I shot Copper Solids for many years and recently switched to Lightfields. They perform great on deer and are easier on the shoulder (and thus your confidence).
