Whats your favorite gauge?
 

I'm a 12 gauge enthusiast. I've used it to hunt almost every animal I can hunt in indiana and have success with it on everything from bobwhites to whitetails. I've shot .410, 28, 20, 16, and 10 gauge shotguns but I always go back to the 12. To be fair, I'll list em all. Whats your favorite?

I like the 12 guge because you can hunt a variety of animals with it and have a very large variety of shells. But then again if the 28 was not used just for wing shooting than I would go with it. And then the 20 or 410. But the 410 is by far my favorite gun of all time for small game. The 20 isthe same as the 410,but not that good for hunting whitetails in my opinion.

Obviously the 12ga going to be prob #1 (even a "dumb blonde chick") knows a 12ga.:D
I favor the 20 because its lighter and quicker, and for where I hunt its optimal.I've taken squirrel,rabbits,pheasants,grouse and even a turkey with a 20ga.
Lots of you are blessed to live in the rural area and pheasants to youfolks,are like yellow-cabs to me. No rolling corn fields here. I've been told 40 yard shots are not uncommon.True?

.410 isn't a guage ;)

Anyway, it really depends on what i'm hunting with my shotgun... I like a 12 for harder to get birds, but i did harvest a nice tom turkey last spring with my 16 ga...

20 ga. is my favorite, but I still use a 12 for turkey.

12 is good for anything from squirrels, to deer.

Gotta take the 20 GA here. What cant it do?! Especially where I hunt it is very thick and shots tend to be quick with tight windows, and we also get A LOT of woodcock in the fall and the 12 ga just doesnt work in those spots. I would still prefer the 12 over anything for hunting turkeys though.

Since i own a 12 Gauge i'll vote for the 12 Gauge. Some on here make it seem like the 20 is only good for small game, i know lots and lots of people who PREFER the 20 gauge for deer hunting over the 12. I found a good deal on a new pump 20 gauge for my brother and wants to turn his nose up at it because its a "sissy" gun, its not a 12 gauge.
