shell size question for shotgun
 
ok i am buying amossberg 500 everything i have readsays they take 23/4 and 3 inch shells i had one 2 or 3 years ago i bought used i bought 2 1/2inch shells for it there target federal shells will theywork in the new 500 or is it a bad idea i have like 40 of them and do not wont to waste them but i do not wont tohurt the gun

Go ahead and enjoy shooting them IF they will feed reliably,that would be only issue-they can't hurt your gun in any way. The length refers to fired shell casing length-not unfired.

never had a proplem with them before and it was a 500 i am lad they wont just sit arounnd anymore

Is the box marked 2 1/2 inch shells? Or are you measuring the length of the shell. I think they used to make them, but I have never seen them.

well they measure at 2 1/4 fedaral shells i bought them at walmart like two years ago
