Goodness, I can't believe there is so many people on forums that actually does not know what this guy means. I mean I thought my ex wife was not bright, but goodness.

Also, can't beleive you wouldn't put a 22-250 on the list. I have a 223, and 204, and think the 22-250 is better choice over those and others listed.

yep...for a varmint rifle caliber, i enjoy my 22-250....works great...40 confirmed groundhog kills this summer out to 350yds...need to find some longer range shooting for the spring...

I like the .243, but I think for varmints the .22-250 is king.

You put oddball cartridges up there but didn't list the most popular ones? No 22-250, and you listed 22 rimfire but didn't bother to list 22 mag, the 17HMR or the 17HM2

For me I would pick the 22-250 for a pure varmint round, and it is probably the most popular where I live.

Lots of people use the 30-06, 25-06, 6mm and 270 as well.

My favorite is a Remington 700 Varmint in 6mm.

It's a cartridge where the shoulder diameter is greater than the head size. It has to be insertred into the chamber backwards, andd hammered into place. Extraction is a bear!

Answer here, of course, depends on what kind of varmints youse is talkin about. For bears, I swears by the .270. Fer loose rhinos, I chooses a .257 Weatherby Magnum. This is based on the recommendations of none other than ol' Roy Weatehrby hissef. Also the .25/50 single-shot (not Remintun).
