Bench Rifle

Whats a good bench rifle? I have a 260 rem., 280 rem., 308, 300 win. mag., CZ 6.5x55 swed., 223 aclly improved, and a 25/06 rem., 204 rg., 17 rem., 220 swift, but there all hunting rifles. I have 2 ruger 10/22's one hunting and one fully custom for bench. But now i want to get a centerfire gun for bench. Any ideas for you bench gurus?

Something with a heavy barrel. I also like the raised cheeck stocks.

I am a big fan of the 25-06 for a bench rifle. I think it is one of the best and most under rated out there. IMO.

I am assuming that by "bench gun", you mean a benchrest gun? If you mean a benchrest gun, get ready to kiss about $4K+ good-bye. I would recommendeither 22 PPC, 6mm PPC, 22 BR, or 6mm BR. I would go with either a Stolle (Grizzly) or Nesika Bay (Classic R) action, either a Hart or Lilja barrel, and McMillan Light/Heavy or Edge stock. Of course these components will have to be expertly assembled by a gunsmith who is knowledgeable about building benchrest rifles.

Ifthat is not what you are lookiing for, then I would recommend the Savage Model 12 Long Range Precision varminter in .223 Remington.

Your best bet is to get the highest quality tactical rifle in .308 that you can afford, accurize as neccecary, and handload for it.

Ditto!

Would also add that Cooper's have been doing really well in Factory gun competitions. A Cooper in triple duece (222 ruled BR prior to the PPC) would be an excellent choice.
