7.62X39 for Hogs?

What do you guys think about a semi-auto carbine (SKS or Saiga)in this caliber for shooting hogs? They look like they would be fun to shoot and maybe be able to get off a second shot at multiple hogs.Supposedly this bullet is very close ballistically to the 30-30, so what about killing power on hogs under 200 lbs.? I have plenty on my hunting plot.

i know multiple people here in Texas that have major hog problems. a lot of them use semi-autos to success. most use 5.56, but i personally know a guy that uses the 7.62X39. good luck.

I have owned both a siaga and a SKS in 7.62x39. The SKS is by FAR the superior weapon, but it will probably cost you more for a good one. Look at both side by side in a shop and you will see the build differences.

My saiga was the biggest POS gun I ever owned, my SKS is one of the guns I regret selling.

As far as shooting hogs it will work but it wouldn't be my first chioce if I was buying a gun just for that purpose.
