need a slug gun
 

alright guys need some opinions...i want to get a new slug gun. basically my only need is it needs to have a cantilever barrel on it. what would you guys choose as far as brand and model?

well i was gonna say the ultra slug hunter or tracker 2 slug gun from H&R but i am not sure if they can have a cantilever put on em.

They already have a cantilever barrel. Basically it means the scope mounts to the barrel, not the receiver which the H&R does. Except the Tracker, it has a regular weight barrel and open sights with no scope mounting option. Some gunsmiths will drill and tap them, others will not. The break actions don't really have a receiver so the scope will mount to the barrel and tip with the barrel when you open it.

Your best bargain is a H&R Ultra, but the 870 remington and 500 mossbergs are nice as well. If get one of those pony up the extra cash and get the combo model so it's more versatile in the long run.

If you get the H&R I suggest the 20 ga over the 12 ga.

Also keep in mind the Tracker is a light single shot and they can really kick with a slug. The Ultras and Ultra deluxe are considerably heavier and handle recoil better, but they are heavy if you plan on carrying them around a lot.

There are better guns if you want to spend more though.

i have the tracker 2 in a 20ga and it dosnt kick to bad but then i have a recoil pad on it because i originaly bought it with a 12 gauge turkey barrel and man does it kick with that barrle

I had a Tracker II 12 gauge and my shoulder just couldn't take the kick anymore. I now have a Mossberg 500 with Combo Barrels and both are ported, it reduces some of the kick from the slugs. No where near what my Tracker II kicked. The Ultra Slug Hunter is a very good weapon of choice. If your looking for a little more versatility i beleive they make the Pardner Pump with a rifled cantilever barrel and regular barrel. My dad has that and looooooves it.

I would go with HR just like everyone else in here. If your lookin for a slug gun then the HR is the perfect gun for it. The 20 don't kick to bad. The 12 will give ya a pretty good wallup but thats what I would get. Ammos more common.
