So what type of slugs should be used ina smooth barrel with an improved cylinder choke? Just curious, that's what my Mossberg 500 has....

The answer to your question, in my opinion, is rifled (foster style) slugs.
There are lots of fine choices, Brenneke, Winchester, Remington etc...
Try several, there will be one that will perform better than the rest in your gun.

ok i do not know weather there hurt or ot i would lke to as i am buying a shotgun soon

no clerk should just refuse to sell something like that he is stupied i would not go back there and would tell everyone not to either

Like others have mentioned.........with slugs in rifled barrels you will have to clean often due to Lead built-up. Also the accurcacy will off.....
