check with a gunsmith a por shop is there to sell guns not just sighting in your bow or selling stocks

I think your gunsmith is more interested in selling you a new gun! As others have said there are many after market stocks out there, so there's no reason to retire a good gun! That said, you also have an excellent excuse to get another gun! The calibers mentioned are all good choices, it's just going to be up to personal preference. As for the 7 MM RM ruining meat, any of the calibers mentioned can ruin just as much meat as the 7 MM if you go for the shoulder shot. Go for the boiler room and you waste very little if any good meat!
