sighting in a 270 H&R Single shot

I have been reading the forums about sighting in a270 H&R single shot. I guess I am a bit confused. I will be shooting this rifle at anyware from 25to200 yards. I want to sight this into bedead on at 50 yards. Am I doing this correctly? I have been a slug hunter all my life and this year I am hunting were rifleare allowed in Wisconsin. Thanks

Are you asking if you should sight it in for dead on at 50 or that you want to?

My advice would be dead on at 100 but 75 would do the job when youre shooting at a 7-8" vital area.

The best thing is to sight it about 1 1/2 inches high at 100 yards. That will cover you well for the ranges you mentioned.

I would sight in about 100yrds 1" high.

Shoot at 25 and 50 and 75 and 150 and 200.

Note where you hit and remember. If you change scopes or ammunition repeat process every time.

Shoot, shoot, shoot, and make each shot a learning experience.

You will find there is very little difference in POI, but the confidence of seeing it is priceless.

I have a 270 and I have it 1.5 inch high at 100 so it is dead on at 50 and again at 200. That makes it point and shoot out to 250.
