RE: .270 WSM (vs.) 30:06
i would not get the 30-06sprg since the 308win is just as good. i would look at maybe a 338win mag or even waiting to find a 35whelen!

RE: .270 WSM (vs.) 30:06
I'd go with the .338-06.

RE: .270 WSM (vs.) 30:06
I WOULD CHOOSE 300WSM. BECUSE 150GRAIN 300 LOADS SHOOT FASTER THEN THE 270 VERSION. AND YOU HAVE THE OPTION OF THE HEAVIER BULLETS IN THE 300.

Danny...
i would personally go with the 300WSM if you are going for a short mag. seems that the 300WSm is gaining so much popularity that you are seeing alot more bullets from federal and other companies than the 7mm WSM. it might be also easier to find ammo for the 300WSM than the 7mmWSM. i have not bougth one yet ( waiting for the finnlight in 300WSm ) but also because i wan't to see if the ammo selection becomes more broader |

RE: .270 WSM (vs.) 30:06
Nice choice, Danny. Nobody really needs anything bigger than a 7mm WSM to hunt anything short of brown bears. It should serve you well and may even end up being that mythical "perfect all-around rifle" we are always looking for.
Put a 3.5-10 power scope of good quality on it, and you're ready for anything! <img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle> Good Dogwork and Good Hunting |
RE: .270 WSM (vs.) 30:06
If you are like me and don't enjoy the recoil and can afford it, look at a Browning BAR. Gas operation reduces recoil alot. I have an uncle and cousin that shoot them in 7mm mag in Oregon and Canada. They have no cold weather problems as long as:
1) When they clean the gun they wipe excess oil off. 2) When hunting in really cold, they leave their guns outside in the vehicle so that there is not a big temperature change and moisture won't foul up the automatic. Good luck |
