No sore spots here. In my opinion only, American gun manufacturers can't touch the European gunmakers in quality, fit, and finish, and I believe you get what you pay for.
Yep the Mauser 98 is still copied everywhere but the Model 70 and that is what this thread is about is a very fine rifle. European guns are made for a complete different audience then American Guns. Drive to the hunting area sit in a stand and wait for game to appear after all shooting light is gone. Hardly a contest for a rifle .Contrast that with American hunting where a rifle may sit in a scabbard or on the handlebars of an ATV in dusty conditions or in extreme cold and miserable weather and lets see a rifle with extremely tight tolerances function well. I have dabbled in Sakos and actually purchased a Colt Sauer 30-06back in the 70's for 250.00 believe it or not Sunday special from Leslie Edelman sporting goods. One of the best rifles I ever owned and I wish I still owned it but it wouldn't do one thing betterthen a Well Put together Sako,Howa,Winchester Model 70 or Weatherbywill do. After looking at 800+ dollar Remingtons tonite at my local Gander Mountain you don't always get what you pay for.

My Sauer 202is my daily shooter, thats the gun I go to for deer or pigs. Ive used it in snow, rain and everything in between. Europe has the same kind of nasty weather conditions that we have in the States if not worse. Its not all tea and crumpets, while pampering the vault queen rifle,inside a mansion of a shooting house as you describe. I wouldnt treat any othergun any different, theyre all investments to me.
