Default Help Me Choose a Caliber

Give me your ONE CHOICE for a caliber that has to meet all of the following elements:

(1) Lethal on whitetailup to 300 yards;
(2) Lots of factory loads available; and
(3) Recoil energy under 15 ft lbs.

.308 = +1. Also, possibly a .25-06.

Don't overlook that your choice has to have:

(3) Recoil energy under 15 ft lbs.

Ruger,
Not sure the 30-06 meets criteria number 3. I think it's closer to 20 than 15. But you are right about the 30-06

You're right, 30-06 is a great round, but it's recoil is between 17 and 20 lbs.
