new gun need scope
I just purchased a browning A-bolt medallion in .300 rum yesterday. Now I need to get a scope for it and also a mew one for my other medallion in 7mm rem mag. I was almost dead set on leupold, but while buying the rifle yesterday the guy very highly recomended the bushnell elites (sp?) . what i'm wondering is are these any good or should i spend the extra cash and get leupolds for the two rifles. Thanks in advance for the help.

RE: new gun need scope
I have no complaints with Bushnell or any of my lesser cost scopes.....
It's your money.....spend it your way.... |
RE: new gun need scope
I had a 3200 on a .300 Weatherby...lasted 30-40 rounds and the X hairs broke! Stick with the Leupold or get my next quality scope a Zeiss Conquest...<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

RE: new gun need scope
I bought a cheap scope back in the 50 or 60's forgot which.A armsport,$39.00 at Sky City.Has been a very good scope and still works today.
You get good ones and bad ones in all of them.I just had a nikon and a simmons atec repaired. http://www.hunting-pictures.com/memb...ght&encore.jpg |
RE: new gun need scope
Supposely the Bushnell Elites are a nice and reliable scope. For many years I used nothing but Redfield's. Since they went out of business,I switched to Leupold's.So far I've been very happy with Leupold and the quality. You spent allot of money buying quality rifles, the scope is not something to skimp on. I say go with the Leupold and you'll know you have a good combination.

RE: new gun need scope
I have the Bushnell Elite 4200 on my Rem Sendero 300RUM and just love it. I have only put around 150 rounds thru it so far but it has performed perfectly. I picked the 4-16X40 for just a little over $300.

RE: new gun need scope
Iown a couple of elites and know of several more that friends are using and all are trouble free. They arte also brighter than comparably priced leupolds.

RE: new gun need scope
i have 2 luepolds. a Vari-X II 3-9X40mm and a VX-II 2-7X33mm. both are great rifle scopes and do hold there zero well.
rwo years ago i dropped my rifle as i fell and the rifle went down hard. still held it's zero. |
RE: new gun need scope
I agree, I love the leupold on my 307, but on the same token, the bushnells i have do the job just as well. The midrange scopes perform just fine for the normal guy. I think a lot of vendors get a bad rap for people putting the wrong scope on the gun, like a high mag scope on a heavy recoiling gun. Of course the think will break.

RE: new gun need scope
WIbucksniper - give the Zeiss Conquest a look! I've put Leupold's on ever rifle I've ever purchase except the last one. I make the mistake of looking through the Conquest. WOW! I want to replace all my Leupold's now. Defiantly worth a look.

RE: new gun need scope
Congrats on your newest aquisition. I have an A-Bold Classic Hunter, like it a lot. Can't say anything either way about Bushnell scopes. I have Leupolds on both of my rifles and am very happy with them. I don't think I'll own anything else. Why take the chance? You know you've got a good scope that's going to last whey you buy a Leupold.

RE: new gun need scope
You can get 3-9 Leupolds for around $200.

RE: new gun need scope
Thank you all for the replies. I'm going to go with the leupold's per your suggestions. Now I would like to get a 4-12 , but I noticed someone said high powered guns and highpowered optics are a bad match do you think this will be a problem on the .300 rum?

RE: new gun need scope
just look for one with a 3.5 to 4" eye relief for that cannon you have.
how far will your shots be? what about a 3.5-10x50mm |
