RE: Remington SPS
If you have a Dick's near you, check them out for Rem 700. I just got a 300wsm with walnut stock for $320 after sale, rebates, gift card, and coupon. Orig price was $528. This was the last one in New England, according the the clerk who was on the computer at the store. They had 30.06 and 7MM for $50 more. I got a new take off SPS stock on Gunbroker for $65 shipped, and will put that on and sell the wood. I am a woodworker in my spare time, and hate taking a nice wood stock into the woods. If anyone wants a SPS take of stock for $40 shipped, I found that site after I paid the $65 elsewhere! Will be at the range Sat shooting that bad boy!

RE: Remington SPS
I bought one in black 3 weeks ago in 300 win.mag and have killed 7 deer with it so far. The 300 will put the smackdown on a Whitetail let me tell you. Two of the deer were small about 70 lbs. and they looked like they were hit with a 50 BMG. I blew the entire rib cageout on the opposit side of one. The second small doe I shot I litterally blew the shoulder/leg off. I mean like blew it 8' away with ahole you could put your head through. I use Remington core lokts (spelling) in 150gr. and they are nasty!!!! The gun kicks ormore like jumpsalot but it does not sting at allwith the Limbsaver pad on it. I love it!!! It's the best caliber I have evershot and I have killed deer with a .22 .243 6.5 x 5530/30 7mm-08 .308 .270 30-06 7mm mag. 45/70 .44 mag .444 12ga.slug 00 buckshot bow and arrow spear (kidding) and the 300 win. mag is the badest of the bad that I have ever shot a deer with. I would go 30-06. Ammo prices are starting to become an issue. Recoil is a little more manageable. If you go with a 300 mag, start with 150 gr bullet.
To those that are destroying game with a 300 mag,use better bullet, put it in the right spot.
