Effects of small bullets with heavy loads

I'm came across a box of 125 grain 300 Ultra Mag Bullets. I can't remember the velocity on it but it was zooming. It got me thinking, wouldn't using a grain bullet that is a lot smaller than a normal load wear out the rifling in the barrel pretty fast? Or is my thinking off. What effects will a small grain bullet have on the gun.

if you want to avoid throat erosion don't shoot the barrel when it's hot

How do you know it's hot???If you can't pick up the gun in one hand by the barrel and hold it for 30 seconds.....It's too hot.

The bullets themselves wouldn't cause excessive wear. The amount of powder shot through a barrel determines how long it will last. In other words the powder is the barrels enemy. I've read somewhere that improper cleaning practices cause more barrel wear than anything else.

I loaded a couple set of 125 Noslers for my 300 RUM. The fastest being 100gr of RL22 (3852 fps). I did not get the accuracy that I thought I would get, but the round did get some respectable groups with the best coming from 94 gr of IMR 4350 (3818 fps). I shoot the Remington Sendero and was told the rifling, 1 in 10 might have something to do with it.
