can you get a t/c encore barrel chambered in say 300 ultra mag?

I doubt it. The local gun shop told me that t/c can't make the encore in some calibers because of the high pressure they create. I wanted a 270wsm. But I haven't check the website.

I don't think T/C makes any Ultra Mag barrels. Some after market outfit might but I have never seen one.

No, the TC chamber is not large enough in diameter to handle a cartridge as fat and with as high a chamber pressure as the WSM's or ultra mags.

In other words there isn't enough steel surrounding the cartridge to keep it from blowing up on you.


There was a thread on here a while back showing pics ofa TC encore that some idiot gunsmith rechambered in 300 ultra mag. Guess what happened. The gun was completely destroyedwhen the chamber blew apart.
