What .22 action?

this ones a two parter first ill post this and you tell me what .22 rifle action you would rather have then post why. when this poll closes ill get the tally, then post a brand/model poll, to narrow my search, for the perfect .22

It depends on the end-use, what are you going to be useing it for? If you are just wanting to plink a semi will surfice, if you are wanting an accurate hunting rifle a bolt action will be good, if you are wanting a tac-driver, a heavy barrel single shot will do the trick!

i said single cause i like single shots and they are the most dependable guns period, besides bolt.

A lever action Marlin model 39. It is a lot of fun to shoot and they are accurate.

I agree. I chose bolt action on the poll because I could only pick one.

I voted semi-auto based off of they are fun to shoot. However, as previously mentioned - it depends on the purpose. Single shot / bolt action for accuracy, semi-auto for everything else.

RE: What .22 action?

i mainly want a cheap reliable tree rat/bunny/crow killer. i like the looks of the bolts ot walmart, can never remember if they are marlins or savages, but there around $150 so if i can save i can get one, next time i go ill check, and let you know. right now im depending on my 870 as an all around gun, which it is, but i hate shooting squirrels at 10yds with a 20ga. i mean it really tears em up, id use .410, but what if i get a long shot? .22 gives the best of both worlds.

What Devil Dog said. The single will do anything the semi will do.Just not as fast.A semi wont do what my 540 X will do.

I like a bolt action and they don't jam a quarter as much as half the semi's do..

I like tubular magazine Marlin semi-auto, they're great, fun plinking guns.

Although I have semi-autos I have started off both my boys with bolt action .22's. Since the goal was to get them to concentrate on the first shot I like the bolt action, single shot or with a mag. better than the semi's. This is not to say I haven't had fun with my semi's.

I'm going to go ahead and give my answer to both parts of your question. Ruger 10/22 Semi auto. great fun to shoot. I've only had a few jams in the years I've owned mine. I have been known to go out and burn through 2 550 round boxes in a day without cleaning. most of the time when there has been a problem it has been a misfire as opposed to a jam. Although I don't really reccomend abusing your firearm like this, The 10/22 is a solid platform and can handle it. In addition to that, the 10/22 has an immense amount of aftermarket parts and accessoriess.

i have a rossi single shot, but for some reason i would prefer a fixed barrel bolt action, instead of a break barrel design. i think im gonna save and get a 5 shot bolt, or trade my rossi 22/410 for a savage single or something.

I have all the above, but picked bolt. All the others are fun to plink with just not quite as accurate as my bolt.
