Copper Fouling removal
 

I was wondering why my Browning A-bolt wasn't shooting as well as it had in the past. Then I noticed copper fouling in the rifling. This ticked me off cause I hate a dirty rifle and clean them as soon as I get home from a shooting session. I scrubbed the bore with blue wonder and got it out after about an hour of running patches through the bore. But I hate using those amonia based solvents. I searched the web and found a non-amonia solvent called KG-12. Has anyone used this product and does it work?
Oh, BTW, the Browning is shooting great again.

My Remmy 700 will pick up an a$$-load o' copper after only 3 to 5 rounds. Then again, it really settles-in to its tightest groups at around 12 to 15 rounds. Rough bore or not, it shoots better than I can, so I'm not overly concerned about it.

I've never used the product you mention, but I've had tremendous luck with the Gunslick foam. It may take three to four 2-hour soakings, but there's no scrubbing involved at all. All in all, it's far less work than when I've used the Shooter's Choice ammonia.

I'm sure there are many folks with more rifles & far more experience than myself, so check out the replies, & make up your own mind.

Try WipeOut. Works well. No strong odors. Ammonia free. I would use something else for the carbon first and then use the WipeOut for the copper.

For really tough copper, Sweets 7.62 is about the best. For ease, I use foaming bore cleaner from Outers. Fill the barrel with foam, leave it alone, run a few patches, repeat until clean, easy.

my 700 in 22-250 picks up copper like nothing ive ever seen. either because its still newer(less than 200rds down it) or just because its a 250...the copper laughs at regular solvent and a brush. i got some of the outters bore foam. let it sit a half hour...hit it with a few patches and most of the time its clean. occassionally, after shooting a bit, it will take 2 foam sessions. but thats after 20rds or so...i usually clean it every couple rounds..everyday after groundhog hunting usually..

Outers Foul Out electrochemical system. I use it every 3rd or 4th cleaning for a spotless bore. Minimal amount of labor and less chance of damage from cleaning rods but primarily because it gets it spotless.

whiskeysnoot....just ordered an Outer's Foul Out III kit today. Hope they work as good as they claim. You seem happy with yours...???

Yes, very much so. Like I said, I use it every 3-4 cleanings when I want to get absolutely clean. You know how you clean with normal solvents until you think it is clean, then you wet a patch with Hoppes and leave overnight? Next day lots of blue on your patch? Tried this after the Foul Out and was very pleased with the thoroughness.

If you shoot any lead bullets, you will be really shocked by how quick and easy it removes lead.

A tip to get you started, after 30 min. to an hour pull the rod out, clean copper off with scotchbrite and reinsert. Reposition o-rings slightly also.

the electro chemical system was one option I was thinking about but never heard anything about it.
I thank you guys for the responses but like I said when I started this post, I hate using amonia based solvents. Not only do they stink up the place, but some, like Sweets, is too agressive and can ruin a barrel if not adequately neutralized.
About the electo chem system - where did you guys get them and how much?
