Has anyone used the new hornady30-30 round on deer yet. I have hear it shoots really nice. Just wondering if it has good knock down power ?

it has been more accurate that the traditional rounds...Used them hunting last year. Shot a buck at around 40 yards. He didn't take a step

RE: new 30-30 rounds

If you do a search, this topic has been visited a few times, but I have killed 4 deer and 4 hogs with 30-30 LeverEvs and won't put anything else in my lever guns.

Keep in mind that they were created for use in the new Marlin XLR series of rifles with 24" barrels and 1:12 twist, and the "standard" Marlin 336 has a 20" barrel and a 1:10 twist. Some "standard" guns don't shoot LeverEvs as well as others do, but in my 336SS, they shoot easily under an inch at 100 yards (off a bench).

This picture is from a couple of weeks ago and was a boom/flop at 150 yards. The full story is in the "hog/exotics" section.

So the new rounds will not work in a 336W 30-30 ?

I did not say that.

I said SOME "standard" 336's don't like them. My "standard" 336SS LOVES them and will shoot an inch or under consistently.

Moe,
The reply I gave above was from a 336w in 30-30. The Leverrevs are all I use in it now
