hi-point handguns
 

I have been in the market for a sidearm to carry while bowhunting up north and i came across hi-point pistols that are brand new and yet a 1/3 the price of anything i have seen my question is has anyone used one of these or owned one before i am looking at the hi-point 40. thanks for feedback

I had a HP .40 a few years ago, I never had any problems with it at all, seemed to function well. They are not the prettiest guns,but they run well,and I have heard that the Hi Point company has top notch customer service. All in all, good for the money.

Please don't buy one of those. I work in a hunting and fishing store, and those are the crappiest hand guns any of our salesmen have ever dealt with. Save a little more money and buy something better. You'll be doing yourself a favor.

I also agree with the "get what you pay for" idea. My father-in-law had a HiPoint and it was the worst POS he said he'd ever used. It was bad. The first range session it locked up tight. The sights fell off too.
If you really want/need a handgun why skimp. There's plenty of quality affordable makes/models out there. Did you skimp on your bow set-up? No? then don't do the same with a handgun. Spend a little bit more and but a CZ, a Ruger or maybe even look at used.
