M1 Carbines
Hey, I heard some rumors a couple months ago that the CMP was selling M1 Carbines really cheap recently, is that true? I suppose their stock is depleted by now, but I was wondering if the stock is sold out, are the prices still good?
I'm not really interested in buying one, or saving up for one, but I was thinking that ifnow's the time they'll be as cheap as they'll ever be, would it be something to consider seriously, even though I wasn't planning to buy any M1 for some time from now? I'm basically wondering if I can't afford not to look into getting one now, or should I be rest assured that M1 Carbine's prices aren't going anywhere but gradually up, as usual.
On a side note, I would like to know if now's a price slump in M1 Garands as well.
Am I just being delusional that a "price slump" for any M1 exists? I just thought it would, like, something would stimulate M1 prices to drop at gun shows and such.
I won't be able to buy any such weapon till next year in the fall earliest, most likely, unless I find a good summer job.
Any info will be appreciated.

RE: M1 Carbines
I agree 100% with El D. Waaaaay too expensive. These prices 2 years ago would be for a correct grade or collector grade. These rifles came back from Italy on lend lease.....they are mixmasters, that chances are, were abused. These prices are just foolish.....but, if you want one for your collection, you better get in line now. I can see spending 6-700 for a Garand, however, these prices are rediculous. Regards, Rick.

RE: M1 Carbines
Garand prices aren't going to slump anytime soon if ever
$500 for a carbine is a bit steep for a relatively inaccurate rifle of limited use ( people do buy mini-14s I guess)- but then again there are enough people out there that "just got to have them" to buy every carbine CMP has on the first day each lot is offered.
