Cleaning your 22
Just curious as to how you get the lead out of your 22LR???

RE: Cleaning your 22
I would assume using a brass brush attachment for your cleaning rod would do the trick. However, I have only shot between 200 and 300 roundsthrough my .22 and I show no signs of lead buildup.
I only use RemOil when I clean mine. But, as stated, there is no signs of lead buildup either. |

Try putting a few copper bullets through it just before your done shooting . it will help clean some of the lead out.

I never knew they made copper plated 22 LR ammo:eek:

RE: Cleaning your 22
Federal makes them. You can get them at Wal-mart for around $10.00 for the550 round value pack. There a 36 gr. copper plated HP. They shoot great in all of my 22's

RE: Cleaning your 22
Try Hoppes lead remover. Swab it back and forth a few times and let it soak overnight. Cut a few strands from a copper 'ChoreBoy' scouring pad. Wrap it around the swab and stroke it through a few times. The copper will cut the softened lead but will not hurt the barrel. Repeat as necessary. If it's really leaded, it may take a few overnight soaks.
There are some copper plated steel scouring pads that WILL scratch the barrel. Make sure its the copper ChoreBoy. |
