My permit is in NY. I have the restrictions of hunting, fishing, trapping and target shooting and transfer to and from. Luckily I always have a fishing pole in my truck and you never know when a target might pop up that needs to get shot. In all seriousness, most states that don't allow a full CCW have restrictions limiting you to sporting uses, so therefore you would be fine if you were out scouting some new land or such.My wife is the only oneI know that has a full CCW, but the judge was her father's lawyer. I guess that helped.

In Colorado a concealed permit is easy to get, if you have a clean record. You can also carry while you are bow hunting!

like i said, i would never just carry a gun around with me, i wouldnt see a need to carry a gun to the store or something ya know (would cause more harm than good IMO), but while bowhunting in deep national forest, i know it would make me feel much better. True, I doubt that I'd ever need to defend myself going to the local grocery store, but on the other hand I have to run the gauntlet of driving through the ghetto every day to get to work and back. My state doesn't allow for CCW, but that doesn't mean that there may or may not be a .45 sitting cocked and locked in an open zippered compartment of the 'man purse' I carry my lunch in every day right next to me on the seat of my truck. .gov says its a no-no but .gov doesn't pay the mortage and isn't going to put my kids through school if I'm not around for it. |

Michigan is a "Shall Issue" state. Meaning, that if you can pass the prerequisate class and the MSP mental and criiminal background check without falling into any one of the disqualifiers on the list then you SHALL be issued a concealed carry permit. Some counties within the state try to make it as painful as possible but in general it is a very pleasurable exprience. One of the other perks that comes with the Post March 2006 issued permit is that it now takes the place of a NICS background check for all long gun purchases within state, previously it only took the place of the pistol purchase permit issued through your local sheriff or police dept.
"Average" elapsed time between turning in your paperwork and receiving your blue card is anywhere from 3 - 5 weeks, depending upon the gun board of your county and all of the other paperwork that has to be done. Exclude places such as Wayne County though... Break-down of my experience was $100 for the prerequisite course (this can vary in price), $10 for 2 passport photos from wally world, 15 minutes of my time chatting with the sheriff's deputy while he digitally scanned my finger prints, $105 to the County Clerk and 4 weeks wait as I had turned in my paperwork 2 days after the monthly county gun board meeting and had to wait until next months for them to review all paperwork and put their stamp of approval on it. NOW, if only the bill makes it through the state legislature and through the Governor to remove the "Pistol Free Zones" for all of us permit carriers... Keeping my fingers crossed. |

In Missouri you must take and pass a CCW class. Then apply with the sherriff of the county in which you reside. Missouri's law is a little funky in that it gives the authority to the sherrif to decide if you should have one or not. I got mine prior to the last election, I've heard that the new sherrif doesn't issue CCW's very easily. I like the sounds of the "must issue" states. I think thats the way it should be, if you apply and meet the prerequisites you should be given the permit.

Correct... You can carry your self defense weapon even though it does not conform to hunting law guidelines... BUT you MUST follow all hunting regulations and therefore cannot "hunt" with your defensive weapon. No matter what season.

In Ohio... CCW requires completion of a class, $45 app fee through local Sherrif. Good for 5 years. Class is waivable with DD214 from military service listing qualification with weapon.
As for hunting regs relating to CCW, you are allowed to carry during any hunting season as long as said weapon is not used to shoot, shoot at or kill any wild animal. CHeck out www. packin.org for carry info . It has every states requirements and guidelines. I know i see A LOT more meth heads at the stores then in the woods. I carry a .45 24/7 . I just dont want to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and not have it.

Washington State is a background check (FBI), fingerprints, and about $90. I just renewed mine last week and it is $32 or so for another 5 year permit.
