Protecting my finish
I recently purchased a browning gold 3 1/2 inch shotgun with the nice shiny wood and blued barrel. I want to use it for waterfowl hunting, but i am to worried about hurting the finish, so just wondering if you guys have any suggestions about how to keep it nice. THanks

RE: Protecting my finish
Make sure you clean it thoroughly after you're done using it and keep it oiled with a quality gun oil, I use G-96 Gun Treatment. Do that, and you shouldn't have a problem.

Hey Bigj,
You use gun oil right on the wood? I have had the same question. Just bought a gun that has a great finish and I want to protect it. Thought maybe I should use some sort of wax but I have no idea |
RE: Protecting my finish
I have a Browning BAR, which has a glossy stock, and the manual stated to oil the stock with their Browning Oil
-OR- a good furniture polish, but not both. I would assume this would be the same for your glossy finish on your shotgun's stock. |
RE: Protecting my finish
Get you a good gun case also.. So that you don't ding it on the way to and from the blind..

RE: Protecting my finish
If you REALLY want to keep it nice, leave it in the safe and use an old 870
