RE: 40s&w or 9mm?
Either will work with good ammo for defense, but in the long run without reloading the 9mm will be cheaper to practice and target shoot with.

RE: 40s&w or 9mm?
I have a .40 and a 9mm........I just picked up ammo today for each.
Wally World winchester White box: 100 round .40 value pack = $21.99 100 round 9mm value pack = $14.98 I actually enjoy shooting the 9mm more, it's cheaper and trust me some of the hot defense loads in a 9mm are nothing to sneeze at. My 9mm Corbon 125gr +p JHP defense ammo is serious stuff. It probably goes against all the macho "one shot stopping power" crap you'll hear but if I had to choose just one to keep it would ABSOLUTELY be the 9mm. |
RE: 40s&w or 9mm?
It's already been said, you can't go wrong with either. The 9mm can be loaded up with good self defense rounds and yet you can plink all day with the cheaper stuff.
I'd buy the 9mm as well. |
RE: 40s&w or 9mm?
IMO the .40 S&W is the better self defense round. I use a Glock 27(40 S&W) as myoff dutygun. The 9mm would be cheaper to shoot though and could add upif you shoot a lot. One thing to keep in mind. If you buy a Glock 27, 23 or 22(all .40's) you can buy 9mm conversion barrels for them and you can also buy .357 Sig barrels. These barrels run about $100 from Lone Wolf distributors.
