.30 SMITH

Has anyone heard of it? I saw it browsing the net the other day and now I can't find it!! It said it was a 30-378 blown out to like a 40 or 45 degree shoulder and fires 180 grainers at almost 4000 fps. But I can't find the article to read it again!!!! [:@][:@]

The most impressive feature of such a varmint is the speed with which it uses up barrels. This cartridge would be a barrel-maker's dream! And the .30/.378 WM itself is no slouch in this department!

Helllloooooooo Huntingnet!
im a newbie here, so take all criticism and shenanigans... well... comical ;)

i know this is an ancient post, but jeepkid, did you see anything else on that .30 Smith??
my great grandfather built those guns, along with one of his sons, and god i would love to bring some more back into the family... the last one we got was when my youngest older brother nick was born in 1983, my grandfather pulled it from a package he was going to mail to japan, with a $4k price tag still on it, and gave it to my mother! I believe i just found one (fingers crossed!) but am always on the hunt for more!

I have a winchester pre 64 model 70 in .30 smith the bluing is rough but the action is silky smooth and functions perfectly the barrel shows almost no wear, If anyone has any info on this cartridge, I have the reloading dies but have no information on the cartridge itself,
If the guy whos grandfather built the guns wants it id be more than happy to sell it, and it wont cost 4k either

Here's a version I had built over 20 years ago. Very simular to Jarrett's 300 Kong. Case capacity 136grs of H2O.
