Richards Microfit Gunstocks?

http://www.rifle-stocks.com

Does anyone have any experience with a stock made by this company. I'm looking to put some good wood on my custom Mauser but want a stock that is inletted. I don't want to have to take out a bunch of wood. I'm just wanting to learn the finishing process. Thanks in advance!!

Chris

I sent a very pretty piece of wood to them to be machined and they did a nice job of it except they left way too much wood on the sides.

It had a shadowline cheekpiece and I had to remove at least 1/8" per side and that took a very long time. I'd not send them wood again!!!

I do recommend Cliff at Cliff's "custom" Gunsmithing. He does excellent work and can make about anything you want. 605-793-9201 18110 457th Ave Castlewood, South Dakota

DG, I've built a good many guns from stocks from Fajen when Reinhart owned it.....and they was far superior to what Richards sold me.....even the one stock I managed to get from Fajens when Midway run the show was superior to Richards.....sorry.....a little sanding stock maybe......but what I got from Richards was unacceptable.....almost like buying nothing at all!! I was pissed!!!!

I was very satisfied with the stock I got from Richard's. It took some sanding and fitting, but I was prepared for it and actually prefer to do the final fit myself.

DG, maybe I just didn't make my needs clear....I'm happy that you're getting products that suit you......and Maybe I'll try them again. The last time I sent them an exhibition grade walnut blank for machining to a model 70 barreled action.....I'm very used to final inletting and glass bedding the barreled action to the stock.....

I actually took it to Cliffs in South Dakota and paid him to remachine it to size.....and there was a heck of a lot of walnut on the floor when he was done
