RE: Winchester Super X rifle
I bought one in a 270 WSM. Is this caliber any good? What does it compare to. I know the 300 WSM compares favorably with the 300 Win Mag but haven't done any research on the 270 WSM. I bought it for a quick solution to N MN whitetails as I sold my Browning 308 BLR. Thanks

Never saw one before. I thought the Super-X was a shotgun, but, did a little googling, and found this:

270 WSM is a buster and will work fine (if you do your part) at ranges farther than 200 yards. As for the rifle, I think it's ugly and crappy looking. Wouldn't want one. Browning is much better IMO. Good luck.

200 yards is enough in N Minnesota in most cases. I havequite a fewguns that look good including several Parkers and Brownings, one of which is a Midas.
I bought this gun to kill deer with and am concerned only with its accuracy, weight, and reliability. I would be more pleased if it had a black plastic stock as I was originally looking for a Short Trac Stalker but can't find one. Next year I intend to have a 300 WSM, 308 and a 308 lefty in Short Trac Stalkers as my son will be 14 and is a lefty.
I could care less about what the gun looks like when hunting except for our annual 410 wild pheasant hunt. I use a Classic Doubles 410 for that one.
Sorry to hear you are hung up on what you perceive good looks are in a gun.

I'm not hung up at all. You asked for feedback so I gave some. Why get your panties in a wad? Select what you like / want and to he?@& with everybody else. Good luck this fall.

Hope you are right. If this is essentially the same gun it is a steal. Cost was over $250 less than the only Browning I could find. Iheard the Winchester had a good action in it but didn't know if it was Benelli's or Browning's. I assumethe barrel is Browning?
I intend to pick it up next week. Probably mount a smaller Leupold I have laying around. I know this cartridge will shoot a long ways but almost every shot we take is under 100 yards.
What is the best range to zero the 270 WSM?

From what I understand the winchester is exactly the same rifle as the browning short trac bar. The brownings are great rifles but the winchester should cost less.
