22-250 varmint rounds...

I just got a Savage 110, 22-250 without the bull barrel. I am trying to get into varmit hunting and long range paper punching...

I am not yet able to buy a reloader, so I am looking for a good bullet for yote hunting. I would also like this bullet to accomodate my need to shoot out to 500 yards at the range, just paper punching.

I am currently using:
1. Remington 55gr. psp
2. Winchester 45 gr. jhp (high velocity, varmint round)

DBL, the .22-250 is a very fine varmint gun.....However, the range seems to be best with heavier bullets even if a bit of velocity is lost.

I recommend you get into reloading soon because the fruits of the .22-250 can often be highlighted by "rolling your own"

Until then any 55 grain bullet that shoots well in your Savage should suit your needs. If Federal makes some .22-250 loads with nosler's ballistic tips, I'd try them......but you don't have to pay a premium price to get a good shooting bullet.

For you're future reloading needs, try to stay with one manufacturer of ammo for now!!

I've had good luck with the Federal Premium 55 grain spbt load in several 22-250's. It shots as well as any handload in my current varmint rifle.
