Default 22 magnum

I recently purchased a revolver with a second cylinder for the .22 magnum. I have not shot that ammunition before and am curious if anyone has a good comparison with the .22 long rifle or other smaller caliber ammunition.

The way a friend explains it is its 10 to 20 percent faster than the 22lr and costs five times as much . <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

If I should decide to purchase the .22 magnum ammo, any suggestions as to a supplier. Many of the websites and places like Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops do not list it.

You can get 22 magnum ammo at both Cabelas, and Bass Pro Shop. My rifle is fond of the 34 grain winchester jhp's, and CCI maxi mags. You'll find the .22 mag to be well over twice as powerful as the .22 lr, and it's still not all that loud. I usually pay about $10 Canadian for a box of 50.

Gscuttles, You can get much better prices on ammunition going through a shooting supply house.Check out these for starters. www.natchezss.com and www.midsouthshooterssupply.com. I've dealt with Midsouth and have always received excellent service. If there is a problem they make it good.I've had good luck using Winchester's and CCI 22 mag cartridges.I just looked in Midsouth's 2002 catalog. They have CCI 45grain JHP 22mag as low as 4.71 a box of 50.
