rem 700 or rug 77

I have an oppurtunity to buy either a 308 Ruger model 77 or a 270 Remington BDL 700 which bolt action is better or just the same? I was recently given over a hundred rounds of 308 as Im building an M-14 but also have 2 270 rifles. One is an interarms mark x 24inch barrel and the other is a ADL 700 with a 20 inch barrel.

If you already have 2 .270's why not get the .308? Either gun is a good one.

I have a Ruger M77 stainless / synth. in .308 and it is a tack driver... It is one of my most favorite rifles.

Go with the Ruger.

Both are good rifles, but you know which I would generallylean towards :D:DAnyways...you already have 2 of the same caliber so I would probably go w/ the 308.

i bought a ruger stainless/synthetic 2 deer seasons ago and love it. my final decision came down to the ruger and the remington but the ruger fit me way better. biggest difference was the ruger shouldered much better. there's my 2 cents.

Caliber aside I think the model 700 is a better rifle for general hunting and shooting, would be my choice...

I think the Remington is a better rifle, I just don't see the need for three 270's. I'd either buy the Ruger or try to find a Remington 308. I've never owned a 308 but there is a bunch of guys on here that swear by them. Let us know what you decide!:)

If a tang safety Ruger, I would prefer the Ruger...The trigger can be easily adjusted in that model and the Ruger integral bases are what I believe to be the best system, you can check every screw that holds the scope to the rifle....

If a 3-position Ruger M-77, I would buy the Remington...In my opinion, Ruger had the safety right the first time...And the trigger isn't as easily adjusted, but the Remington is....

Which is more accurate??? I have been able to get both to shoot well, although I believe the average Remington out of the box will out shoot
the average Ruger....My brother owns both a tang safety Ruger M-77 and a 700...I sight both in for him and do the upkeep...He only shoots Federal Premium 130 grain Sierras, I can't tell any difference in accuracy with these 2 guns, both run about 1 1/4 inch groups with this load...

I prefer the bolt action of a Remington over Ruger but since you already have two 270’s, I would try the Ruger for something different...

Both are nice pieces and even though I may lean towards the Rem. since you have 2 .270's then go with the .308. I have a wide variety of cal's, makes, and models. It makes for a more interesting collection.
