Ordered New Rifle, Need Scope

I went to one of the local shops and ordered a Savage 16FSS"Weather Warrior" in 22-250. Should be here by Friday. Have to decide what scope to put on it, any suggestions? Trying to stay under $250 for scope rings and bases.

I really like the Nikon Monarch 5.5-16.5X44 that I just bought. Natchez SS has them on closeout for $289 right now.

You can't go wrong with a Leupold. Their VX1 line is in that price range.

Since you are ordering a .22-250 I would assume you will be using it for general purpose varmit rifle. I have used the weaver v16 with excellent results. It goes from 4xto 16x and has target turrets. The adjustments are repeatable, reliable,it has adjustable objective and is a very good scope within it's price and power range.

I'm very partial to the new Weaver's especially the Grandslam line. They utilize the "microtrak" adjustment system that has been on the Target series for quite awhile. the Weaver T series has been used by the Benchresters for quite a few years.

I've putthree of the Grandslams on Varmint rifles. Two 6-20's and one 4-14. These would excede your price range by about a $100. To stay in your range you would have to go with the 3.4-10x40. Bruno's have them for about 250

Take a look on ebay. You might find a B&L 4000 6-24X40 in this price range if you're lucky. Also, you can look to the Nikon Monarch. I purchased a 3-9X40 for $199 on closeout through Natchez Shooters Supply. On a 22-250 I would want more magnification than this scope has to offer.

Isthe Bushnell Banner worth a look? I have seen the Banner6-18x50AO at a decent price but do not know if they are worth it or not. Thanks

I agree about the Nikon Monarch, it's a great scope, and the price wyomingtimberghost was talking about is really a deal, get Leupold rings and bases, they might cost $20 each, but it's the best a man canget, and you will never need to replace them.

Don't know about the Banner series, but the Bushnell Elite 4200 3x9 is about the best scope you can get for the money. I'dput theElite 4200sup againstany other scope in their price range. If you look around, you can get the 3x9 for less than $250. The rest of the Elite 4200 line costs significantly ($100-200+) more, though.
