RE: Crimson Trace laser Grips
Ranch,
I bought my wife a set for her Ruger MKII pistol. Besides the obvious cost associated with them they seem to perform as advertised. We have only used it in an indoor range so the laser dot was very bright. It was easy to install and easy to adjust. We shot mostly at 75 feet and it definitely improved my wife's form and accuracy. Truth be told, I shoot just as well with the open sites as the laser site, so it wasn't a big deal to me. I'm pretty sure they are illegal to hunt with in NY, so it was more of a "what the heck", let's try them out. My wife is pretty small and tends to drop the barrel as she shoots, so they definitely improved her form, which is all I was really hoping to get out of them

I have a set on my Beretta 96 G and love them. Great for night fire or low light situations. I can see mine on a solid object @ 200 yards away, far outreaching the maximum effective range of the weapon. They are adjustable and I have mine sighted in @ 25 yards. Great for quick target acquisition and not having to worry about sight picture.

Paid the extra money for a set on my wife's S&W 642 Airweight and...she doesn't care for it in most settings. The dot is very bright, and she finds it distracting on the range. It's great for covering the bedroom door in the middle of the night if something goes bump, but it didn't make her a better shooter.
Personally, I'd take a white light over a laser any day. Just seems more practical.
