Cooper Rifles...
 

Anybody own one? They sell these semi-custom rifles at my local Scheel's and they had a heavy barrel .22-250 varmint/target rifle, with a really nice vented stock on display with the card showing the factory test group. These rifles must shoot a 1/4" group at the factory before they are shipped. This one put three bullets through the same hole. There were two very slight elongations in the hole, but I'd guess the group would measure less than 0.1" if measured with a caliper. They were asking $1,200 for it.

Does anybody own a Cooper rifle? And if so, is it really worth the price tag.

Every Cooper I've seen on a rack, the factory card looks like that.

They are super accurate. I have a hunting buddy that has one and loves

it, don't remember the caliber. I'd say if you can afford it, it's

worth it.

i know a guy that has 4 or 5 of them. The only way he could get that kind of accuracy was to get like a 30 powered leupod scope and have it ground to a 36. Then he put a pen dot and shot at it. then he could group like that. look at the fine print on the card and it says they used a scope like that.

YES,they are ,worth every penny. If i could i would have one,for BR shooting.
IMHO ,If you can shoot , as good as the gun,you only need one shot at a time !

Yes, the card said they shot the group with a Leupold 36x competition BR scope and bags. It's not unreasonable to do that though, since they are guaranteeing the rifles accuracy, not the shooters marksmanship skills.

I know that any rifle that shoots three bullets through practically the same hole is worth $1200, but my concern was with the credibility of the company. What's not to say that they don't have one particular rifle at the factory that has proven itself to be remarkably accurate, so they shoot all of those cards with that one rifle and then just put the card with each rifle that goes out the door. I was just wondering if owners have been able to achieve similar accuracy results as their group card.

I wished I had one, I like the looks of them. From what I've been told you shouldn't have to worry about Coopers credibility. As far as 3 shot groups @100yds the .1 moa is about what I would expect from a Cooper. You should be able to set one up with a good 12X scope and shoot .25moa 5 shot groups using a good handloaded match bullet. I would almost guarantee it would do it using the Sierra 52 or 53 gr. match bullets. For ulitimate accuracy Fowlers, Bibs, or Starke bullets would be my choice.
