Default Taurus 44 magnum

Well, I am contemplating getting another 44 magnum and I wont have alot of money to spend. I was looking at sportsmens wharehouse and they have a stainless 4 mag with what seems to be a 6 inch barrel for $460.00, the price seems right, but how is the quality? My old S&W 29 started giving me problems last week and I am getting tired of it already. Let me know what your experiences are from current or previous owners. No unbased rederick please. EJ

I owned a taurus revolver that busted. I sent it back to taurus in pieces in a ziplock bag. I had it back in 3 or 4 weeks in perfect condition. They stand by their products 100%. I'd buy another Taurus without a doubt. I'm thinkin about getting their 5shot 44mag snub

I have almost the exact same gun your talking abou. Mine is blued though. Its a little on the heavy side but it takes alot of the recoil out of it. Also the cylinder is a little loose but it dosnt effect anything and could be easliy tightend up. Ok now that im done with the bad about it it is very accurate even with cheap ammo. Ive never had any problems with it and have put around 800 rounds through it in less then a year. I even got a bear with it last fall. I would recomend one to anyone who wants a 44 Mag.

I just bought a Taurus 44 Mag. with a 4" barrel and it shoots great. I use the standard sights and can shoot 7-8 ring shots at 50 yds. with it from a sitting position. I'm looking forward to hunting deer with it this year.

I have the Taurus Ultra Lite 44 Mag with the 4 inch barrel. It weighs just 26 OZ. With full power loads its nasty but loaded between 44 Special and 44 Mag level loads its p[retty pleasant. For outdoor defense I load 300 Grain WFN Gas Checled bullets. I shoot the heavy loads in my Ruger but the Taurus 44 Mags are good solid guns.

i have a 'Tracker' in 44 mag. The thing is sweet. I can nail jack rabbits out to 50 yds all day. I think i paid $419 for it with a scope mount. Havent gotten a scope yet. I was thinkin of a Burris red dot.

Anyways, get and dont look back. You will be happy. What model you lookin at?

If you are not happy with a 629, I certainly would not buy a Taurus!!! I would suggest a Contender, IMO the Contender will outshoot the 629, but the Taurus will not shoot with theS&W. Tom.

I personally would spend a little more and buy a Ruger Redhawk over the Taurus..You can get it set up for a scope or a unscoped model. To me it's a much better gun that will hold up under most anything you feed it.I owned one Taurus and wasn't impressed at all with it.

What Taurus have you shot that's so bad? Plus, do you really want a single shot contender?
