New H&R 45 LC Buffalo Classic at the range.

This is one sweet little rifle. Its like the 45-70 Buffalo Classic with the Case Hardened color receiver and Walnut stock with crescent butt plate. It has an extractor instead of the usual ejector. Pretty good sights for factory open sights. One is able to do some pretty fine sighting with the u notch and gold bead front.

I had a box of Remington Factory loads 225 grain LFP's. I just shot it at 25 and 50 yards but at those ranges it shot nearly one big hole for three shots. My wife shot it very well and I may have a hard time getting to shoot it myself.;)

Next I will work up some Cowboy Action level loads to start. I have 250 grain Hornady LFP's. For higher level loads I picked up one box of Hornady 250 Grain XTP bullets.

Some one on another forum told me you could rechamber your rifle to 460 S&W. And still shoot 45LC ammo in the same rifle. I thought that sounded like a great idea. Tom.

I sure like it. I think its going to be a fun rifle to shoot. I know you can ream them to 454. Some question the wisdom of going to 460 but the NEF will handle the 270 and 30-06 pressures. I don't know what the operating pressure of the 460 are. They chamber it in 500 S&W as well. That might be my next one. If I could just figure out what I would use it for.:D
