bought loose 9mm ammo from a guy at a flea market

He said he "used to shoot but decided to quit and sold his guns then decided to sell all of his remaining ammo for whatever he could get for it." He had 9mm, 25 auto, 30 carbine, and some 12g shells among others I didn't look at. I bought roughly 100 rounds (didn't personally count them) of 9mm ammo which was all he had for 5 bucks, which is what I offered. Mixed in there that I could see at a glance were Wolf, CCI, and FC (which I think is Federal) and there were also variations of FMJ and HP.

I figured heck, maybe this is an easy and cheap way to test some loads in my SW9VE since I haven't had it that long but then again I thought I'd ask and see if you guys thought it was a good idea before I put my face and hands on the line.

It looks perfectly fine to me. I think it's worth a test.

Nothing can go wrong here!

good luck.

As long as it is factory ammo you are fine.

Some European ammo is made for subguns with much higher pressure. I would screen those out.

Just make sure you sort all the ammo to make sure it is what it is supposed to be. But it sounds like you will be doing that if you are going to shoot by company.

I would sort by brand name, and look at each round to ensure it was indeed 9mm. The only problem is you might have different models of particualr brand of ammo and I'm not sure the case will say that or not. This will effect how they shoot out of your gun.

The only advice I have is be safe.

I don't ever buy 'unknown' ammo. I don't reload, so I either buy off the shelf or shoot something that is made by somebody I know personaly.

Not that I've ever had a bad experience from buying reloaded ammo at flea markets, I just don't want to, ya know.:D

If its in the boxes like that and dosnt look like they are all mixed up id say its ok. Just be sure to check all the ammo for problems when loading the mag.

Go with a "Dutch mix" and thoroughly see how well your SW feeds. It's only 100 rounds and 5 bucks. It will be gone in 5 or 10 minutes anyway and any info you get will really be useless. It is older ammo of unknown bullet weights/loads so you aren't going to be able to go out and buy anything exactly like something you think you like.
