and honest to goodness that's the first time I ever remember feeling a"shockwave" from a rifle. I laughed so long and hard after the first shot, particularly because I was adjusting the rear sight on my Mini-14 and it caught me totally off guard, resulting in a bit of a jump and scream hehe.

That thing had a pretty impressive muzzle flash as well. VERY impressive. I'd like to see it shot late in the evening.

Seemed rather accurate, too. With open sights he was hitting clay pigeons at 100 yards rather easily. Looked like a good shooting little rifle and was also easy to look at. He told me that it was more or less brand new. Was made in '52 and never issued, supposedly never even shot until he got it. I can't remember where he said it originated from but it wasn't Russia, I do remember that much.

Retaks,

I've done that!! My bro-in-law up in upstate NY owns a .50 cal BMG (shhhhhhh, don't tell the Hildabeast and Chucky Schumer!!! [:'(]). Anyway, I remember going way up in the back pasture with him and shooting it against the hillside.

For those who never shot a .50 cal before... The kick is equivalent to a 12GA with a slug, that's all. But the percussion blastis what gets you! OMG, you can feel it in your heart. You can feel it rumbling right up into your brain! The .50 cal is a beast!!!!!!!!!

Butch A.

Edit: Back on topic... I've been at a skeet range before, and had a guy in a group near us, accidently squeeze the trigger on his Mossberg and send a bunch of 12GA shot right into the ground near his foot! I thought the other guys in his group were going to kick the $*@&@ outta of him!!!

Yea it really dosnt kick anywhere near as bad as i expected but the shockewave is horrible. If you ever get the chance to sit in a car with a sound system made for bass comps then do it for 15 mins with the bass up. Thats what it feels like every time someone pulls the trigger.

I saw this one guy shooting a M44 at the range, and I thought, man, with all that power, it almost seems to be a black powder or something.

The M44s aren't any more powerful than a .308, but some surplus ammo has been loaded to be optimized for the M91/30 rifles- shot through a M44 you get a large fireball and BOOM. Its a neat novelty. A brand new M44 can be a decent shooter, but most of them are crap.
