H&R Pump Shotguns any good?

Anyone have one or experience with them? They look good but I would like to hear first hand experience.

RE: H&R Pump Shotguns any good?

I had one for a short while and ended up trading it for a single shot youth model for my girlfriend. I thought it was a nice gun for under 200 bucks. Great fit and finish, really nice wood. It functioned just fine and looked well built. It is basically an 870 clone but takes mossberg chokes. I have owned both an 870 express and a mossberg 500. I felt the H&R was a better built gun as far as fit and finish goes.

The downfalls are it is a chinese import, while H&R is an American company, this gun is not made here. Doesn't mean it is not made well, just letting you know where it comes from. Also being that it is an import, and a cheaper one at that if it were to break good look getting it serviced or finding parts. And even though it is an 870 clone most of the parts will NOT interchange, like the trigger group, action parts or barrels. I think 870 stocks will fit it though. So any barrel upgrades you get will have to be for that specific gun from H&R.

Also if you ever plan to get rid of it resale value will not be as high as a mossberg or 870.

Like I said, I had one and liked it for the time I had. Nothing wrong with the gun itself. Just giving you some things to think about before you buy one.
