Convert 45-70 Marlin Cowboy to pistol grip?

Curious if anyone has converted a cowboy 1895 45-70 from Marlin to a 336-type pistol grip stock:

I prefer the look of the pistol grip, but I don't like the 1/2 magazine the 336s come with:

I have an email out to a gunsmith to see if he can get an extended tube on on of the blued guns and also for the XLR guns, but I doubt thats the case, so I'm checking on the other end hehe.

Besides, I think that extra weight on the 26" gun would maybe help with recoil (though I'll be adding a pacy or similar recoil pad, mecury etc if its too much).

The all the late models of marlin use interchangeable rear stock. I have to wonder why you want to do this however, because the "pistol grip" version don't have enough angle/curve to make a difference. To me,looks alone(on marlins)don't justify spending the extra money.

I don't know if it is possible but I'd agree that it would look really nice. I'm also not a fan of the short magazine. I think they do it for the balance.

I'd be curious to see what you find out.

I like the pistol grip but despise the half mag tube also. It should just be a matter of purchasing a new stock and lever to convert it.

Talked to a gunsmith - its no big deal - you just need the stock, trigger plate and curved lever - they all interchange apparently.

EDIT - oh and the reason I would do it is because 1. I don't like the half-mag look 2. more weight = less recoil (although not a tremendous difference, 5 more rounds and that long barrel add some heft) 3. I like the look of that pistol grip - its pure asthetics on that count.
