Win. Mod.70 per 64 action
 

I've had one for 10 yrs. A friend of mine was looking at a
used 1. He ask me about mine I said it has a per 64 action he ask
me the diff. between them and I had no idea. Dose anyone here know.

difference between pre 64 versus post 64 is on is push feed (pre 64) , the other is claw type feed (post 64) there maybe some other differences, I should know it since I own a pre-64

Biggest difference in the pre 64s have controlled round feed, meaning that the case is held by the bolt the moment it is released from the magazine (like a Mauser or most Savage's I have seen). Winchester built a few more just before the New Haven plant closed.

A push round feed (like Remington 700s and Browning A Bolts) litterally push the round (which is free) into the chamber.

I was lucky and won the gun so I never looked into buying a
mod 70 so I have no idea the diff. or witch is better if one
is better at all. It dose its job and I wouldn't trade it. Is one
better then the other one.

The pre 64 was a mauser style controled round feed system and the post 64 was a push feed similar to the remintgon 700 or howa bolts. They also made the M70 classic starting in the early 90s that had the controled round feeding with mauser style claw extractor. The pre 64 and classic are the more disirable but the post 64 are a decent rifle also.
